Actually the name Gary, "The Local Brush" comes from the Hot Rod and Hi Performance Car magazines of the 1960s. Numerous articles have written about my art work and it has graced the cover of more than 40 national car and motorcycle magazine publications since the mid-sixties. The most recent covers; Hot Rod Internet, (2011) Iron Works,(2011) Vette,(2010) Hot Bike and American Bagger(2009). Autoweek magazine wrote a 5- page article on my teachings at the Center for Automotive Arts & Refinishing, which was associated with the Bronx Community College in New York. Scratch built 1926 Model "T" Ford Sedan Delivery with 110 coats of paint.
I am a graduate of the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, New York, with a BFA. Many of my paintings now hang in public and private collections. Using urethane paint and “my” state of the art techniques, the “automobile” is now my canvas. The love for the art of airbrush painting, pinstriping and lettering has earned me numerous awards. I have built, many national award winning show cars and motorcycles. The now, very sought after and valuableBaldwin-MotionCamaros and Corvettes of the 60's and 70's were restyled and painted, by me. Now, 40 years later I am being called upon to re-paint the graphics on those precise vehicles. These models are now made in miniature, with the “Gary, The Local Brush” signature on them. A newly released hardcover book Motion Performance: Tales of a Muscle Car Builder” by Martyn L. Schorr, acknowledges my automotive art work.....

My newest artistic expressions can be seen on many of Long Island’s Fire Department vehicles.I design new logos and then airbrush them onto the fire trucks.
I have a passion for the creative process and artistic challenges, “the cutting edge in not enough for me.I try to hover above the rest by creating what has not been done before.“We can all copy, but if you are going to copy, it had better be better that the original, or it’s not worth copying”. At present, when I find the time, I am finishing the body work on my 1940 Ford ( I had the roof chopped 3 inches ) and I'm going to do a custom paint job on it, for myself.
I would like to thank my parents & my wife for putting up with all my idiosyncracies all these years.
