NORTHPORT F.D.
Northport is a village in Suffolk County, New York on the North Shore of Long Island. As of the United States 2000 Census, the village population was 7,606.  It is known for its bucolic main street which still bears trolley rails from a long discontinued streetcar that brought people to the village from the Long Island Rail Road station in East Northport. Main Street ends at the village dock and village green, site of numerous "concerts in the park" on summer evenings. It has a number of fine restaurants and ice cream parlors, antique stores, as well as an old-style barbershop, and other independent retailers.
    Notable -
Edie Falco - Broadway, movie, and television actress best known for her role as Carmela Soprano on the The Sopranos.

AN INTERESTING & A PIECE OF DEPARTMENT HISTORY

The Northport Fire Department wasn't quite sure exactly what they wanted.  They had a lot of ideas but needed help implementing a concept.  After a few phone calls & meetings I created a few drafts.  NO! It wasn't what they were looking for.

I decided to look through the departments library of photo albums, hopefully to get ideas.  While searching a piece of paper with a pencil drawing fell out.  The drawing was made by one of the department's own members from the early 1980s.  It was perfect.  I was asked to make only one change in his design & that was to upgrade to a new helmet.  In my  AIRBRUSH creation, I left the original art in black & white as a tribute to that artist.
