Fair Harbor is a small town, located near the western end of Fire Island between the Great South Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. It is a part of the Town of Islip on Long Island, New York. The community was first founded in the late 1800s.
From New York City, by car, it is 47 miles to the ferry dock in Bay Shore, NY. From there it is six miles by ferry to Fair Harbor.
Fair Harbor, like most other Fire Island communities, is mainly a summer community, the population in the summer swells to about 1,500. The Fair Harbor Fire Department, was founded in 1931
Gary was commissioned to hand paint & Gold Leaf the company's Maltese Cross logo
on the floor of the newly refurbushed fire department.
After completion the complete floor was clear coated to protect the art work.
